I am by no means a superstar, famous or better than anyone else. As you’ll read, in the most part, I’m pretty underwhelming. However, over my short and serendipitous life, I have helped hundreds of people’s lives improve. I’ve helped multiple organizations from small to medium business, large federal Government Departments and Agencies improve how they operate, deliver and transition new capabilities getting more bang for their, and your, taxpaying buck.
The people I’ve helped are ordinary people, potentially just like you and me, they’ve been from all spectrums of pay brackets, levels of comfort, privilege, opportunity etc. All of them have improved in their own ways over time and have been very thankful for this. If you are looking for an excuse for why you are different to these people or why the things in this book won’t work for you then you’ll be looking for a long time and you already know what will happen if you don’t try them, exactly what is happening now – or at least before you started this book! Hang in there, embrace the discomfort, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
I’ve had the gift of being able to grow up and work with some amazing people that have helped create some wonderful lenses and perspectives, understand and hear people as well as help me unlock what really makes me happy and feel alive. To be fully open and transparent right now, those things are:
The combination of speed and risk together – Finding the edge, and often a bit further, on motorbikes, mountain bikes, rock climbing, skiing off large jumps, etc.
Being active – gym, running, road bike riding, etc.
Being healthy – maintaining a decent physique and eating a balanced, nutritious, and healthy diet.
Helping people and seeing improvement.
Helping organizations and seeing improvement.
Hanging out with interesting people that challenge and grow me.
Learning and continuous improvement.
Working on Scary Exciting Nightmarish Targets…like writing a book!
Having as much fun as possible.
Food, booze, and music.
